Present 'Braille Keyboard' For Tablets

Braille KeyboardCALIFORNIA - A team of United States (U.S.), has found a wayfor people with impaired vision to use a touchscreen tablet likethe iPad as a Braille keyboard.

As reported by the BBC, Friday (10/14/2011), the discovery ofthis new technology, users will type directly on the flat screen.

"With this smart keyboard, the fingers do not need to find where the buttons to be pressed, but otherwise the buttons are going to find the radius," said one Stanford researcher, SohanDharmaraja.

Dharmaraja use iPad with Braille software, this software was created to make the smart keyboard.

This keyboard users will only need to put their finger on the eight-screen, then the keyboard will pop up automatically. For future interactions, simply do a regular tap.

This idea emerged when Dharmaraja, with his friend AdamDuran, a graduate of New Mexico University, and an assistantprofessor, Adrian Lew, held a competition X-Factor.

"Touch-screen devices like the iPad offers the possibility ofdevelopment for people who can not see," said the manager ofthe Royal National Institute for Blind People's (RNIB), RobinSpinks.

"Braille keyboard for touch screen this is a very promisingdevelopment, and RNIB hopes to test it with our members in the future," said Spinks.

May have to wait a while until the project becomes a commercial reality Stanford, but now the team for making Brailler keyboardhas been set.
